Sand and gravel working party

Purpose

To provide the Parish representative on the Local Group that liaises with Hanson Ltd, the owners of the quarries in the Parish, in order to keep the Parish Council appraised of matters affecting the Parish.

Duties

1. Through meetings of the Group, to keep the Parish Council informed of matters that may concern the Council. These include the state of the Doddington Road, the standard of the company’s drivers and the speed of their lorries within the Parish, and the condition of the area around the hopper at Hardwater Crossing.

2. To keep the Council informed of the company’s plans and intentions regarding these quarries.

3. To represent any concerns that the Parish Council may have to Hanson Ltd.

4. In the short term, to persuade Hanson Ltd to produce appropriate signs explaining the history of the area and the significance of the Wollaston Warrior find.
